The Greenwood Library offers access to several online streaming video services. They are generally only available for Longwood students, faculty, and staff, but some may be available for walk-in community patrons as well. Each service may have different technical requirements; see below for more information.
Library-Hosted Streaming Video
The Library maintains its own on-campus streaming server that Longwood faculty and staff may use to host their videos for online viewing. This service can be used as an alternative to sites like YouTube when copyright or length may be an issue. It also offers password protection, live streaming, and embedding on web pages. You may inquire about the Library hosting your videos by asking a librarian.
See the Streaming Video Technical FAQ for help with playing Library-hosted videos.
PBS Video Collection
The Library hosts a collection of 498 digitized PBS videos that were purchased by the VIVA consortium. Two-thirds of the PBS documentaries in the collection were produced in 2000 or later.
These videos can be browsed through the Library’s online catalog. See PBS Streaming Video Collection for more information about access and what series are available.
